Highland to Home & Then Some

On Tuesday I packed together two bags of clothes, my camera equipment, my iPod and two bags and waited until Wednesday’s start into the Highlands & Island’s. Photo 02-04-2013 23 40 21 Photo 02-04-2013 23 41 42 Photo 02-04-2013 23 45 27

We covered a fairly well-sized piece of land, from beautiful lochs and mountains to the wonderful Isle of Skye. We spent three nights, four days exploring the wilderness and magnificent nature. Also, ate and slept like kings and queens in quiet and serenity of bed and breakfasts. We also visited a couple whiskey distilleries and splendid restaurants and pubs along the way down. But most importantly – I saw the most breathtaking natural scenes and landscapes I have ever witnessed and I now understand why people fall in love with the Highlands and Islands, as I have done so myself.Photo 03-04-2013 12 58 38 Photo 03-04-2013 12 59 53_Snapseed Photo 03-04-2013 15 42 44_Snapseed Photo 03-04-2013 18 42 30 Photo 03-04-2013 20 06 51 Photo 04-04-2013 10 10 31 Photo 04-04-2013 11 42 58 Photo 04-04-2013 11 43 38 Photo 04-04-2013 11 43 48 Photo 04-04-2013 12 13 07 Photo 04-04-2013 17 06 25_Snapseed Photo 04-04-2013 18 47 23 Photo 04-04-2013 18 47 35 Photo 04-04-2013 19 23 48 Photo 04-04-2013 19 49 47 Photo 05-04-2013 09 15 33 Photo 05-04-2013 10 11 26 Photo 05-04-2013 10 11 29 Photo 05-04-2013 10 11 36 Photo 05-04-2013 10 52 15 Photo 05-04-2013 10 54 43 Photo 05-04-2013 11 28 52 Photo 05-04-2013 11 59 58_Snapseed Photo 05-04-2013 12 01 50 Photo 05-04-2013 16 14 42 Photo 05-04-2013 16 33 48 Photo 05-04-2013 18 19 15 Photo 05-04-2013 18 36 34 Photo 05-04-2013 19 03 06_Snapseed Photo 06-04-2013 08 27 07 Photo 06-04-2013 13 25 49 Photo 06-04-2013 14 28 27 Photo 06-04-2013 14 28 32

Saturday afternoon marked the harsh return to urban living from the soft surroundings of nature. It did not take long until I was longing back out of the city, on the road and into the nature. Alas, it will have to wait until later in the future. Uni is calling me back from Easter Break and after the end of Uni I will be heading back home to Finland…

Anyway, after Sunday we spent lazing around the apartment with a burning fire and Scottish art. On Monday and Tuesday we explored previously unvisited areas of the city and did some museum browsing. Unfortunately it seems as though I caught a stomach bug along the way and I’ve been plagued with a restless stomach for a couple of days. Luckily my tummy is slowly getting better and I can now hold food for a longer time than 30 minutes.
